Welcome to Cartmel
An oval circuit of only a mile in circumference, it is very sharp and boasts the longest run-in in the country (800 yards). The sharp nature of the track makes Cartmel ideal for front-running types although the long run-in can catch those out that go for home too soon.
Cartmel has the highest daily average attendance of all National Hunt courses, visitors drawn to its setting in the Lake District. There are only five racing days all year but they include both Spring and August Bank Holiday. If you have a head for heights there is a great view of the course from the Ferris Wheel, one of many entertainments put on to amuse and interest you between the live action. A great day out for the whole family. Avoid backing big, galloping types as they find themselves all at sea on this unique Lakeland course.
