Welcome to Lingfield
Draw Advantage:
High numbers best in sprints.
A sharp, undulating left handed Flat and National Hunt track which boasts an all-weather course situated within the grass circuit. On the turf, there is a straight seven and a half furlongs with low numbers preferred when the ground is on the soft side with a high draw an advantage when the ground is quick, although improved drainage has altered the effect in recent seasons. The emphasis is very much on speed on the all-weather track where the Equitrack surface is very lively with a short run-in of just over two furlongs, suiting front runners.
Thanks to the recently constructed all-weather track, Lingfield enjoys all year round racing with the Flat fixture in May featuring the Derby and Oaks trials. These races which are often an important pointer for the Epsom Classics due to the similarity of the undulations between the two tracks. The all-weather season culminates in the Winter Derby which attracts the best mile and a quarter horses for this valuable contest staged in March.
