Welcome to Leicester
Draw Advantage:
High numbers best on the straight course.
A right handed dual Flat and National Hunt track which is galloping in nature. The Flat course includes an oval circuit of a mile and five furlongs with a five furlong run-in. There is also a straight mile course on which low numbers are favoured in soft conditions. The National Hunt course is rectangular in shape with the last three furlongs all uphill placing the emphasis on stamina.
Although the standard is not of the highest level, the racing is competitive with large fields not uncommon. Many trainers like to introduce newcomers here so the maidens can produce some important pointers to the following year's Classics. Henry Cecil boasts the best strike rate amongst the trainers whilst Pat Eddery and Frankie Dettori are both worth following at the Midlands track.
