Welcome to Hexham
An undulating left-handed course measuring a mile and a half. There are plenty of twists and turns here so course knowledge is vital. Hence the reason why local trainers invariably do well.
Stamina is the key as conditions become extremely testing in wet conditions. The fences are fairly easy but there is a stiff climb to the finish which is on a seperate chute.
Do not be brave-take a warm coat and several layers of clothing. Hexham is one of the highest tracks in the country, being 800 yards above sea-level in the middle of the Northumbrian countryside, just south of Hadrian's Wall. The scenery is spectacular if you can stop shivering long enough to appreciate it.
The course is to receive £15,000 towards the £20,700 needed for a drainage project.
The big race is the Heart of all England Hunters' Chase at the end of April.
