Welcome to Doncaster
Draw Advantage:
High numbers usually best on straight course.
Stages racing under both codes. The Flat circuit is a left-handed pear-shaped track of almost two miles with a run-in of five furlongs. The course is best suited to a long-striding horse and a powerful galloper, with the accent on stamina and courage. Low numbers are marginally favoured on the round mile track. The jumps course, a mainly flat track, has 11 fences to a circuit and a 240-yard run-in. The fences are more difficult than in former years and Town Moor is definitely not a place for the faint-hearted.
Home of the oldest Classic the St Leger, the first major flat handicap of the season, the 'Lincoln' and the classy staying event under National Hunt rules the 'Great Yorkshire Chase,' the numerous meetings staged at the South Yorkshire course continue to attract high-class horses year after year under both codes.
