Welcome to Exeter
The two-mile long oval course is right-handed and undulating, with a run-in of about 200 yards. The make-up of the circuit lends itself to handy front-running sorts which is why trainer Martin Pipe does so well here, with many of the local handler's inmates trained to run from the front.
The standard of racing at the West Country venue is actually quite good, drawing large crowds, especially families on holiday.
The feature event is the Haldon Gold Cup, and to show things are on the up and up, the Levy Board approved a loan towards the new boxes at the racecourse stables.
