Analysis: It looked a competitive renewal beforehand but Paul Nicholls was bullish about the chances of CHAPOTURGEON and he routed them with a stylish performance. He jumped well, travelled with ease and duly bounded away under Timmy Murphy up the hill. He'll get hammered by the handicapper for this and more difficult assignments await next season. Of the rest, Isn't That Lucky stayed on well to take second and he could well appreciate a further step up in distance, while Crescent Island ran his race in first-time blinkers. Northern Alliance stayed on through tired horses but was never in contention, while Straw Bear easily put up his best effort over fences before running out of steam up the hill.
